Mad Pool
#Mad Pool
A mad pool forms wherever water accumulates without anywhere else to go. The psychopharmaceuticals used in the civilized past remained active long after they passed through the human body. They entered the water supply and eventually accumulated in the lowest points in the landscape. There they mixed with other active psychopharmaceutical ingredients in completely unpredictable ways. These pools can have completely unpredictable effects on the physiology and behavior of the animals who drink from them. Even for humans, the mixture of completely random psychopharmaceutical substances has an unpredictable effect. For other-than-human animals and other creatures, a mad pool can act much like any other source of ancient poison, have little or no discernable effect, or cause them to react or behave in unexpected and unprecedented ways. Bizarre, unnatural behavior often occurs around a mad pool.
A family unfortunate enough to find a mad pool in its territory typically doesn't have many good options except to mark it as a dangerous site and trying to discourage anyone or anything from approaching it. They will nonetheless face an endless series of animals driven mad that they must find some way to deal with.
