Village
Villages typically consist of 50-150 people. More settled than a hunter-gatherer band’s hunting camp but less permanent than ancient towns, villages generally belong to communities that garden. Though political life in villages necessarily tends towards greater complexity, even there it remains rooted in egalitarian principles.
Communities that live in villages generally have two or more village sites that they alternate between over a period of several decades in order to let the land around each site lay fallow and recover.
